Our Affiliate organisations have been busy with their own fundraising events and a number of personal and business donations have all helped us to progress our extensive refurbishment programme.

In addition, the Management Committee has embarked on a variety of events to boost our funds.  In brief, these events have included:

April 2016 – Don Maclean and Friends

We were excited to welcome local actor and comedian Don Maclean, joined by Birmingham and Midland Operatic Society (BMOS) at our  fundraising event.

Don Maclean has been ‘at it’ for over fifty years. He confesses to becoming more like Victor Meldrew with every passing week. His refusal to understand health and safety or to subscribe to political correctness and his philosophy on the approach of old age is guaranteed to exercise even the most immovable of chuckle muscles.

BMOS  presented excerpts from hit shows including Calamity Jane and South Pacific.

Proceeds from the evening of £2,000 went towards the Village Hall’s ongoing improvements.

Autumn 2016 – Bric a Brac Sale

A popular sale of a varied mix of items – bargains to be found on each stall – raised an amazing £1,300 for our refurbishment programme!

Quiz evenings

These popular events have been held at regular intervals and are planned to continue through 2019 – raising up to £500 on each occasion.

Afternoon Tea with Music

A delightful, relaxing afternoon of sandwiches, cake & tea prepared by the Friday Morning Coffee Club …….. and music provided by members of the Strolling Players.

Fashion Shows

A popular event held in March 2018 and 2019 with an ideal opportunity to acquire appealing fashionable garments!

‘Strictly Line Dancing’ – May 2019

In conjunction with our FIR Affiliates, Mavis Worth guided us enthusiastically through the potential chaos of Line Dancing!  A most enjoyable and active evening for all in the main hall!
